Often as a Citrix Admin you'll be asked about enabling video in your XenApp farm. Historically, audio and video in Citrix/Terminal Services environment wasn't that pretty - especially if your users were in remote offices. User experience was often poor and/or the delivering multimedia meant that there was an extra demand on the servers. However - Citrix have kept adding functionality - the core ICA protocol has a number of technologies that compliment it to improve the multimedia experience. If you need to deliver better graphics and multimedia, what can be done? |

HDX Plug-n-Play for USB storage is one of Citrix's HDX/High Definition eXperience features introduced in XenApp 5 Feature Pack 2. With this feature your users have the ability to plug-in their USB thumb drive/USB stick and use it with their XenApp delivered application. Can users now have a local-like experience when interacting with a USB stick or USB disk drive? Hurrah! Users will love it. Until you show it to users... And then, well.. there's often no pleasing users. |

Microsoft, in an effort to make Internet Explorer 8 "more stable", have changed the underlying architecture of the browser and introduced a function called "Loosely-Coupled IE" (LCIE). However, this new function changes the way your users can use the Citrix Java Client to access their applications most importantly, by breaking session sharing. |

Citrix Presentation Server is often touted as the solution to Remote Access working - pop in a couple of Citrix Servers and you can reduce your organisation's carbon footprint, give your user's a better work-life balance, allow your company to rationalise office space... the benefits are many and varied. There is a great advantage in providing your users with a virtual window into your network in which they can work almost as effectively as if they were sat in the office.
